R-Evolve deliver engaging, challenging workshop sessions in which young people are taught practical skills around bike maintenance, metal working and creative fabrication towards qualification attainment, enhanced employability and confidence building.
The inspiring activities that we provide and the informal environment in which they are delivered are designed to create a unique learning experience in which young people of varying abilities and temperaments are able to maximise their potential and attain a range of formal and informal rewards.
Key Elements
Our sessions introduce young people to a range of exciting workshop activities which do not form part the regular school curriculum and generate a diverse selection of practical and soft skills that are transferable across many trades and industries. From developing bike maintenance capabilities relevant to our regions growing biking industry to encouraging artistic creative thinking R-evolve aims to deliver skills beyond the norm.
These include the safe and proper use of a number of powered hand tools common across many sectors taught alongside industry wide welding techniques. The access to these involving activities, allied to our focus on all things biking, are a powerful draw for young people to R-evolves workshop sessions and are a superb builder of both concentration and confidence.Every session has safety at its centre with all generic and specific PPE supplied before full safety inductions delivered pertaining to each individual tool and activity.
Given the nature of the skills being taught at our workshop sessions we aim to deliver lessons at ‘one to one’ levels whenever possible, both to maximise the absolute safety of our attendees, and to develop an individual relationship that allow our students the best learning opportunities. Our experience demonstrates the success of this method as the inherent discipline required in the skills being taught and the high level of attention given to individuals produces positive behaviours and enhanced learning.
A further key element in R-evolves delivery of positive outcomes is the undertaking of defined goals for each block of workshop sessions. Individual projects, such as the creation of a sculpture or product, such as our Cargo Box Project, are set as the focus for the young peoples work during our sessions in order to generate a motivational, real world outcome for their development of individual skills and their work as part of a team. We ensure that every attendee is able to contribute to the project at their own ability level so they can share in the achievement and satisfaction of the finished project.
Our undertaking of such commissions goes beyond the evidencing of the young peoples skills development but also forms part of R-evolves strategy of attracting external funding that supports our workshop sessions. We actively seek projects and commissions that will contribute financially to the delivery of the outcomes our sessions are created to achieve in order to bring their benefits to as many young people as possible.
Our workshop sessions are designed to allow a variety of awards and qualifications to be worked towards. The activities that each young person undertakes within our programmes can be formed by the outcome that they aim to achieve, whether this constitutes work towards a single unit of a course which they are taking at their school, or an award which they will attain solely through attendance at R-evolve.
